Las Adas: A Collaborative Art Therapy Endeavor

The Colorado Coalition Against Domestic Violence (CCADV) has partnered up with Museo de las Americas to launch the Las Adas art therapy exhibit, which will display the art of trauma survivors, advocates and allies. The museum will collect pieces from those who are willing to share their work and display it at during the month of October 2017.

This is where the butterflies come in. The butterfly is a classic tale of survival and rebirth. A tale that translates perfectly into art. A symbol of hope, joy, new beginnings and metamorphosis, each butterfly is is unique in its own way. A beautiful, one of a kind being.

A group of butterflies is called a kaleidoscope, and so we hope you’ll create one that reflects your personal journey, or the journeys of the many survivors here in Colorado. Feel free to create your own butterfly using words, colors and shapes – whatever you feel best expresses your experience and healing process. “We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty.”
